So just like that January 2022 has gone, Christmas feels like a lifetime ago and yet just around the corner, but we're all still trying to catch up from 2020 right? It's already exhausting...
January is one of those funny months, it can start with good intension, positive new year new me vibes but then it usually brings false promises, broken resolutions and can leave us feeling a little blue round the edges. It's been a rollercoaster month for me too.
At times I've felt motivated and ready, and others I've hit the snooze button one too many times, and left the house in a whirl wind for the school run, but hey! I'm here and I'm ready, and I'm going to focus on the wins🏆
On the 10th January I found out I had been chosen to be in the final 30 for The Hair and Beauty Honours awards. This being my second finalist status in an award. Super exciting and pleased to have made the cut, and top 30 is a amazing band to be in with the amount of talent out there. I'll take that WIN. 💪
On the 22nd January an article in our local news was written about my achievement of being shortlisted in two national awards. I am particularly proud of being in the local news because it recognises the hard work and dedication I have put into my small business and is a little pat on the back to myself. You can read the article here.
Then following from the article BBC radio Stoke contacted me to chat on the breakfast show about the awards and what I do. Laura roped me in to a radio chat before and it absolutely terrifies me thinking about how many people are listening. My anxiety was through the roof but it went a well and the hosts were brilliant and made me feel calm and also proud for the way they spoke about my work. It's a great complement to be told you're not charging enough for your work so Thank-you BBC radio Stoke.
So that's January wins from a business perspective but on a personal level, I got my hair cut for the first time since lockdown 💪 I actually carved out some ME time in my schedule. Crazy I know. Oh and I have been going to the gym since before Christmas and have lost a bit of weight and feel more energised for it so I'm pleased with that too. I've not been reading as much as I want too (Audible I mean) but I will work on that for February.
This month I wanted to start plans for a year of upskilling, learning and business development. I have put things in place for February, March and April to attend courses and perfect my skills in certain areas, and today I have started the beginning of a monthly reflection blog. Jounaling my journey and growth this year in the hope that I stick with it, push through and create the future I see in my head.
And if I don't feel like doing it... I'm gonna do it anyway!
